Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! Today I am enjoying my favorite chocolates, from a Whitman's Sampler that hubby got me, my favorite!Did you know that Whitman's chocolates are and always have been 100% made in the USA? Even their packaging is 100% American made.

I have been blessed to have a truly wonderful mom who I love very much. I am honored to be a mommy, and I am grateful for my precious, precious children who bring absolute joy to my heart every single day.

Today I am also thinking of the greatest Mother the world has ever known:
Blessed Virgin Mary with baby Jesus
Happy Mother's Day!

  1. Your Dad sounds like he just loved your company and personal time !

I`m 58 now, missed out on the chance to grow up with all the latest technology in school, so I don`t get all the "geek-ese". Algebra threw me because nothing in nature related / memorizing all the formulas made little sense to me, so I missed the profession of my dreams, architecture. I can draw anything, mechanically, but forget the terminology.

Instructions for new tech stuff throws me `cause it ain`t written in `merican ! Show me a couple times, I`m good to go !

  2. Technology is tricky for older folks, especially if they are suffering from
issues like your mom is. My mom mastered the microwave & the cell phone for
making calls, but she still needs someone to pump her gas and as for the VCR,
hitting play she says is all she really needs to know. But my dad, God bless
him, while he only lived to 58 years old, was hilarious with his bewilderment of
newfangled technology and this was before everyone had interwebs. He's show me
an unopened can of chef boy ardee in the microwave & ask how long he should
leave it in for! But he was a funny guy, I think he was just playin' so as to
get me to make it for him. LOL He did by a high tech copy machine though, and
mastered it, because he delighted in copying, enlarging & preserving old family
photos. I guess he just needed the right motivation.

  3. Sorry for the confusion; It`s my Sister`s interwebs. Mom was a near total technophobe ! Cordless phones at home were too much for her; the option of dialing first and then turning the phone on, or turning it on and then dialing......."Why doesn`t it turn on when you pick it up ?"........Watching the menu change AS you press buttons...."Why does it do that ?" I bought the cordless set because it had a "large green button" for the page function, and she could carry a phone around the house; the green button was great; carrying the phones meant she left it laying somewhere ! Oh well !

When Mom fell and broke her hip, she was alone in the house, but within arm`s reach of a cordless phone. (The corded phone has the separate pre-programmed buttons she was used to) She remembered my cell # ! That was a small miracle. God helped her, I`m convinced.

We only had basic cable (no box) until after she went to the nursing home; she wouldn`t have figured out the more complicated remote, even with constant instruction ! Even the microwave oven became too much; she burnt up two ! Scary !

  4. Thanks, Jill, I will! I eat my good chocolates in moderation, unlike cheap
junkfood, so yeah, there's a bunch left. I hope you had a terrific Mother's Day
    too.

cool seeing the bear! Sorry about mom's interwebs, hope that they can tune it up
    & make it better.

  7. Ooooooh, it`s soooo good to be home ! Big Sis and BnL were both fun to be around this time (he just got his car back after the 3rd deer collision - we call him "Deer Slayer"), good eats, Mom was in pretty good shape, weather was nice - but her new tv / internet access is for the birds. AT&T U-verse.....tv part is fine, but the interweb comes in over the ph. line......like bad dsl. or an over-reaching wireless router...........dropping connection at the worst time ! I unhooked my wireless router a while back because of that, plus it picked up all my neighbors stuff and then went nuts. Straight cable hookup now and it never drops !

The drive home was long (10 hrs) but no probs. Saw some tornado damage in AL and GA; just trees, lamp posts and signs !

Just at the TN / NC line as I entered the Pigeon River Gorge, there was a large black bear with its front paws up on the guardrail til I got about a 100 ft from it. It turned and ran down the bank toward the river. That`s the 1st one I`ve seen in that area in 100`s of trips thru !

Gotta rest, I`m beat and coffee buzzed ! Bzzzzzzt !

  13. I know it's a horrible, heartbreaking disease, it took my maternal grandma and
one of my mother's favorite brothers. Those moments of lucidity are truly
moments to treasure. I'm so glad she and y'all had a good day. God bless you,
and thank you for the warm Mother's Day wishes. My day has been pretty sweet, a
lovely card from my daughter, chocolates from hubby, my little son took a nap
and nobody complained about me being a lil lazy today and frolicking in the
interwebs. And there was even a surprise in my tip jar today! Yay!

  14. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY ladies ! My hat`s off to you all and hope you`re having a great day with family and friends ! Chocolate.....mmmmmmmmm !

We didn`t have any chocolate, but most of the classic picnic fixins. I`m afraid if I move wrong, it`s gonna squirt out my ears ! Too full !

Mom behaved pretty well today (alzheimers - into the combative stage) she didn`t start any fights, but it was a chore keeping her focused on eating and not just drinking and then crunching her ice ! She was mostly in her own little world, singing to herself and reminiscing about imaginary history, but when I left her at the home, she was very coherent and knew where I was going tomorrow ! Fascinating ! (terrible disease )

My best to you all ! You are special indeed !

  15. Are those the ones that are kinda crunchy? I love those too. I hope you're having a terrific day, Fuzzy! I love milk chocolate & usually give the dark chocolates to hubs or my daughter, hubby must have been paying attention because this box is all milk chocolate. Yay!
