Amy Winehouse Rest In Peace

Very sad news from the music world today. 27 year old singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her home.
She was beautiful and incredibly talented, but sadly, she was also a deeply troubled young lady. May she find in heaven the peace that so eluded her here.

Reuters (via Yahoo!):
LONDON (Reuters) - British singer Amy Winehouse, whose hit single "Rehab" became the anthem for troubled celebrity culture, has been found dead at her home in north London, Sky News reported on Saturday.
Police said they had found the body of a 27-year-old woman at a home in Camden Square, north London, after being called by ambulance services around 1500 GMT (11 a.m. EDT).
"Inquiries continue into the circumstances of the death at this early stage. It is being treated as unexplained," a police spokesman said. A spokesman for the singer could not immediately confirm she had died.
Police had cordoned off the leafy street outside Winehouse's home in Camden, where around 20 onlookers had already gathered along with media photographers and camera crew. RTR

I just saw this, so sad, heart-breaking really.  God bless her and may she rest, finally, in peace.

I'm not a fan but it's always sad when a young person succumbs to drugs...

Amen.

You might like the first video posted above, she really does a nice job covering a classic. I agree, it is a terrible thing when drugs or alcohol consume a person, especially a young person.

At least we have what she did that was great and left for us to enjoy, forever. Wish she did not leave so soon. Enjoy eternity with God, Amy.

There is a wonderful youtube video of her from several years ago, singing "Teach Me Tonight". Incredible talent, very attractive young girl...the way she sang that song was remarkable.

We sometimes fnd our own way into the darkness, and we are responsible for our decisions, but I hope there is a special place in hell for those who introduce heroin into somebody else's life.

May Amy rest in peace.

Sadly, Amy Winehouse is now part of the tragic 27 club along with Cobain, Joplin, Morrisson, Jones. May she rest in peace. Such talent, such a tragic life.....

Perhaps the saddest thing for me here is that my first impression is that a person who lived life hard with hard drugs has probably fallen victim to that drug abuse. It may be some time before we are told the definitive reason for her death. As with the Oslo bombing and later shooting massacre, let`s be patient and wait for the full report.

Yes BTW, there is a special punishment for someone who introduces heroin into the life of another.

Listening to all of her songs right now.......god damned she was talented.....

You know, I was about that age when I decided to leave my party animal ways behind me.

Looks like I did it just in time!

You know, I been around the block a few times, and I could tell from the beginning she was going to live fast, die young and leave a tattooed corpse.....I mean seriously, when you're that famous and smoking crack, you gotta be real high to let someone film you....videos of her first show coming out of rehab last month showed her downfall..........

Stephane Beaudoin said...

glad you did hun.....

Stephane Beaudoin said...

Well SPG, I think she made her own decisions....her jail bird husband is a crackhead but she still married him.....from what I hear she was doing speedballs, smack & coke together, that alone shows she was desperate to feel something hard, something better.......

I have no doubt you are correct. I want to be fair.

One of my best friend`s son thought he was a bear, had to be THE man, in the lead, etc. When he was found dead in his bedroom, along with two of his druggy friends who ran away, we all "knew" what happened. It was just a matter of waiting over 5 months for toxicology results to give us the unbelievable cocktail of drugs that killed him, all the while being frustrated (to this date, 3-1/2 + yrs later) by cops who refuse to pursue the case against the 2 friends !

In Amy`s case, the obvious suspicion is drug overdose. Intentional or accidental ? Some other accident ? Break-in and murder ? Muslim rape and infidel-slaying ? Does anyone know for sure ? Will WE ever know for sure ?

A tragedy and very sad, but not surprising at all.

BTW, she was just a few months younger than my Daughter.

I know what you mean and understand the pain you guys feel.....but really, are the 2 friends to blame?? Did they inject him??? Or did he (with the  ''I can take more than you junkies'' attitude)  cause his own death???

I been there, I done that,,,and nearly died many times my friend....but non of my junk buddies ever tied me down and shoot me up till I died....

You're right, we may never know what killed her really, and I find it terrible because speculations will tarnish her ''image'' forever....

Believe me, it`s only the parents who are in denial. My only surprises were that it happened so soon and the parents.........the mom went insane (further) and the dad withdrew. Ultimately, a 42 yr friendship died ........

Indeed, if the real cause of Amy`s death isn`t determined and released to the public soon, there`ll be speculation and rumors out the wazoo ! Some will occur irri- and dis-regardless ! The tabloids will thrive !

BTW, just curious (my profession demands correct spelling and I like correct pronounciation), how do you pronounce your name ? (just like it sounds ? ;-)) Bo-deen, Bo-dane, or the French, Boo-dwanh ?

I think she probably had a stroke. In fact, a prior mini-stroke would explain her bizarre behavior on stage in Serbia, where she couldn't seem remember the words to her own songs. It's much too easy to jump to conclusions in cases like this.

SignPainterGuy said...

That`s certainly within the realm of possibilities. The latest story I read yesterday described the autopsy as finding no cause of death. The next thing is the toxicology report which will take several weeks.
My question then is, "Was the autopsy done accurately and completely ?" (Yes, I watch CSI, NCIS and Dr. G - Yes, I could be expecting too much from the med. examiner)
It seems to me that a stroke would have been noticed at autopsy. Perhaps not.
Also, to add to suspicions, only the bodyguard was at home with Amy at the time of death. He did not call Emergency Services until 6ish hrs after her death. That is plenty of time for him to clean the scene of any drug evidence. Yes, that is only a possibility and only meant as an example of the rumors that surely will circulate.
As I said before, the tabloids will thrive. Sad indeed !

ThePaganTemple said...

I thought the same thing about the stroke, that it should be obvious, but on the other hand, it might depend on what part of the brain it occurred. It might not have taken a massive stroke to kill her if it was in a part of the brain that, say, controlled her breathing, heartbeat, etc. Drugs and alcohol are probably the first thing they checked due to her history. Which, in a way, that probably is what killed her. Years off self-abuse can lead to other complications.

SignPainterGuy said...

I`m assuming her body was buried whole (not cremated). It could be exhumed if a criminal case is filed. I wonder from just how many places did the med. examiner take samples for drug testing. If it is determined that she wasn`t drugged at the time of death, then the rumor mill will spin like a top !

How far does British law require the investigation go in determining cause of death. Will law allow a finding of "no known cause of death" ? Or will the ME fill in the blank with, oh say "natural causes" ? Abby and Ducky could figure it out in an hour !

SignPainterGuy said...

Just noticed at "theothermccain" that Amy`s body WAS cremated after an emotional funeral. If the tox screen is indeterminate as to cause of death, the mystery will live on ! Her music sales have certainly increased !
