Weekend Link-Around - Iron Butterfly Edition

Here's something you don't get to hear every day, enjoy!

Iron Butterfly In A Gadda Da Vidda - LONG VERSION

Now that we've got some music, here is a link-around to some really great blog posts! Weekend Open Thread in the comments section, go nuts.

Conservative Hideout:
Tolerating Socialists if There Were Any For Real? (excerpt):
Many people in society claim to be socialist, but in reality they are just thugs- they want others who they don’t like to redistribute their property, by force if necessary. They want other people, not them or their friends, to lose their liberties and freedoms- but not them. They want equality, as long as that equality drags others down to their levels- but once they have more than others and are more fortunate, they no longer believe in equality. They talk about the joys of a society that they can build, ignoring the horrors of it in reality. READ THE WHOLE THING

Mowing grass - Priceless, via cuz, Oliver (excerpt):
Here is a soldier in Iraq, stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil — to bring them good luck.
Of all the things he could have asked his wife to send to him from home………..he asked for American soil. WOW.  READ THE WHOLE THING, you will be glad that you did!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! My birthday is in eight days! Husband is just getting his business off the ground and I am still working on freelance projects that will pay in dollars rather than pennies, so we're pretty broke right now which means my birthday will be very low key - but luckily, my neighbor's birthday is the day after mine and he's throwing a huge party the day before mine and his parties are awesome, so fun will be had on my birthday weekend. Husband commandeered my brief case, and I miss it already, so I put it on my birthday wish list, in case some nice person wants to buy me a birthday present, which would make me super happy. Of course, hitting my tip jar is a great way to say "Happy Birthday" too! Ad space is still available here at the Zilla blog and also at Stone Soup, and there's never been a better time to buy an ad here because readership is at an all time high (over 19 thousand page views in the past 30 days). If you like to read books, please check out my bookstore! While you're there, you can use the search box to shop for all kinds of other stuff too!

Thanks for stopping by, open thread in comments below, what's on your mind? Got links? Tell me all about it!

  4. Wow, quite a link-around. Some very interesting posts that I intend to read later.

Again, it`s so good to hear that you have new opportunities for self-sufficiency. Hubby is starting his own biz ? Fabumundo ! Tell him I`m praying and hoping for his quick success !

Your birthday is coming up soon ? 29 and ......a half ? ;-) I`ll see if the high speed racing snails are up for another trip !

  6. Thanks, SPG! Those are some damned fine snails you've got! I'll be 39 next Sunday on the 17th. My constant exhaustion is a living testimony for why you should have kids in your 20s if you can, because in your 30s, little kids will wear you out! But I love them to pieces. Hubs & I will be 50 when the first one is ready to graduate high school, I guess that's not so bad, right? We'll be 53 when the little one is ready.
Husband has started as an independent contractor with a company that helps people to save money on their gas and electric bills. He'll be doing it in addition to his regular job to start, but hopefully it will develop into something that will really be great for us. I checked it all out before he got involved, it's legit & has good ratings with the better business bureau. He's really working hard at it and I've never seen him so enthusiastic about anything (other than our kids) before. I am very proud of him. Thank you for the prayers and kind words!  I'm just trying to help him out however I can while still pursuing my writing dreams. I miss my attache case that he's using now, I used it to keep all my writing stuff together, notes on paper, and even used it to hold my laptop and also as a desk so I could work comfortably from wherever. I am a creature of habit and don't like it when my normal setup gets disrupted. I'm hoping I can save up to get a new one and some blank books to keep ideas in as my memory doesn't hold them as well as it used to.

  7. You're welcome! My husband has it on vinyl but we can't listen to it because our record player stopped working years ago, I think my lil ones ruined it (as little children tend to do LOL).

  18. Very cool of you to link. Thank you! I'm embarrassed to admit I used to play that drum solo. Does that make me older than dirt?

    ReplyDelete
  19. No, it makes you AWESOME!
Husband played the video repeatedly for the kids yesterday,
He says his favorite part is the drum solo.

  20. If that makes you older than dirt, then I am as well. I was in hi screwel when it came out.....other kids went nuts for it - I only liked the drum solo. Yeah, my musical taste even then, but especially now, runs toward the more mellow.

  21. MareZillaMJ,

I had a go-round with my "Hi-Speed Racing Snails" today, well, their union rep that is. They grunted under the load, he came out ranting and layin` down his slime (he`s just a slug actually), screaming something about them being "racing" snails, not "heavy-lift mega-movers" ! I just laughed and asked if he thought they couldn`t pull it off !? We`re talkin` "29-1/2th Birfday" here !! His attitude reversed with a strawberry tossed his way . Snails love strawberries you know ! Might have been better if it hadn`t bounced off his head though !? Union reps are such hateful bastages ! ;-)

    Keep an eye peeled !

  22. Thank you! My birthday is actually this coming Sunday, July 17th.

  23. Awww, you and your snails are so very sweet! Thank you! (((hugs)))

  24. We`re  dealing with large, powerful, "unionized" hi-speed racing snails. Let`s wait and see if they keep their promise to be there early before we bestow any "sweetness" on them. Keep an eye on the finish line. They`re pretty fast, but who knows how much braking a critter can do with only one foot. They may just cut the cargo loose and keep right on going ! ;-p
