The mission has turned out to be another feather of failure in Barry's dunce cap. The winning hosts for the World Cup in 2018 and 2022 will be Russia and Qatar. Why did Obama even bother? It's not like Americans are huge soccer fans - oh wait, I know of a segment of our population who really dig soccer: illegal alien invaders! This entire waste of time, money, resources and Obama's ever dwindling clout on the world stage was simply another attempt to pander to what the Dems hope will be a huge voting block once they are able to shove amnesty for those criminals down our throats.
Jim Geraghty has a great little piece about this latest failure at the National Review, my favorite part is the closing paragraph:
A U.S. failure to win competitions to host the Olympics or the World Cup is fairly small potatoes. But it is interesting that after hearing so much about how President Bush hurt the country’s reputation, we now have a president who literally bows to foreign leaders in order to show he respects them, and the United States still loses these competitions. And we come up short even though this country has some of the finest, if not the finest venues, hotels and infrastructure in the world, and still lose out to places like Rio de Janeiro (which resembles a Grand Theft Auto game without the reset button), Russia (corruption) and now balmy Qatar.Don't worry though, Barry will soon be taking another vacation to soothe his hurt feelings, right after he raises our taxes.
