"He speaks out over the gravest danger facing our Western civilization – an increased Islamization.”

The trial of Geert Wilders has drawn to a close with Mr. Wilders giving his final remarks. In a few weeks, the Dutch court will decide whether to throw him in jail for a year, fine him $11,000 or acquit him. Even the prosecution has argued for his acquittal. Mr. Wilders is in trouble for telling the truth about islam and the threat that it presents to freedom everywhere.

Via CNSNews.com:
Wilders, leader of the conservative Party for Freedom (PVV), stands accused of “inciting hatred and discrimination” against Muslims, allegations arising from his outspoken criticism of radical Islam.
The Dutch legal establishment has proceeded with the landmark trial even though public prosecutors have requested that it be abandoned, leading to the peculiar spectacle of the officials whose job is to secure a conviction instead urging the Amsterdam district court to acquit the accused man.
The lengthy trial also saw the judges replaced last fall on the instructions of a review panel, because of an appearance of bias against Wilders.
Prosecution and defense alike have argued that Wilders’ statements about Islam constituted protected speech, and that Wilders was not speaking out against Muslims per se, but against what he saw as a growing threat to Dutch society posed by Islamism.
Still, the court ruled last month that the trial must go on, and a verdict is now expected mid- to late-June.
Wilders’ lawyer, Bram Moszkowicz, rested the defense case on Monday, calling on the court to acquit his client in the name of free speech.
Moszkowicz said Wilders proclaimed an “uncomfortable message.”
“He goes far [in his criticism of Islam], but he never goes too far,” the French news agency AFP quoted Moszkowicz as telling the court.
“He doesn’t speak out because it’s funny. He speaks out over the gravest danger facing our Western civilization – an increased Islamization.”
Moszkowicz noted that terrorists who carried out suicide bombings in London and Madrid had been inspired by the Qur’an.
Wilders caused a storm in 2007 by saying that if Hitler’s Mein Kampf is banned in the Netherlands, then so too should the Qur’an, on the grounds that verses instruct Muslims “to oppress, persecute or kill Christians, Jews, dissidents and non-believers, to beat and rape women and to establish an Islamic state by force.”
The following year he produced a short documentary film that juxtaposed passages from the Qur’an with footage of terror attacks, as well as clips of Muslim clerics endorsing violence. The film, Fitna (Arabic for “strife”), was viewed millions of times online, and caused an uproar in the Islamic world.
About six percent of the population of the Netherlands is made up of Muslims, mostly of Moroccan and Turkish origin. Islamic radicalism has become an troubling issue for many in the traditionally liberal country, where a Muslim extremist in 2004 shot and stabbed to death a filmmaker critical of Islamism. Wilders has himself been under police protection since 2004.
Wilders’ stance has won him notoriety, but also strong support. His PVV party began as a one-person campaign seven years ago, won nine seats in the 150-seat Tweede Kamer legislature in 2006, and then last year saw its representation jump to 24 seats, making it the third biggest in the parliament.
 Via Radio Netherlands:
Geert Wilders had the last word in his trial on Wednesday: “Acquit me. Let the light not be extinguished in the Netherlands.”
The leader of the Freedom Party (PVV) is charged with discrimination and inciting hatred against Muslims and other ethnic minorities. Mr Wilders said that freedom of expression was also on trial in this case and that a huge burden of responsibility rests on the shoulders of its judges.
The Wilders trial is now closed. The court’s decision will be announced on 23 June. Last week, the Public Prosecutors Office asked the court to acquit Mr Wilders.
This isn't just about freedom in the Netherlands, islamic oppression and destruction is spreading all over the world and truth tellers are maligned - there is legislation to limit and censor speech in countries all over the West because the truth is offensive to people who wish to hold dominion over us. Silence on the advance of islamic supremacism will result in death and/or enslavement for us all. Free people must be allowed to speak freely and honestly or they are no longer free.

Here are the final remarks by Geert Wilders at his trial, via Weblog Geertwilders:
Mister President, members of the Court,

I am here because of what I have said. I am here for having spoken. I have spoken, I speak and I shall continue to speak. Many have kept silent, but not Pim Fortuyn, not Theo Van Gogh, and not I.

I am obliged to speak. For the Netherlands is under threat of Islam. As I have argued many times, Islam is chiefly an ideology. An ideology of hatred, of destruction, of conquest. It is my strong conviction that Islam is a threat to Western values, to freedom of speech, to the equality of men and women, of heterosexuals and homosexuals, of believers and unbelievers.

All over the world we can see how freedom is fleeing from Islam. Day by day we see our freedoms dwindle.

Islam is opposed to freedom. Renowned scholars of Islam from all parts of the world agree on this. My witness experts subscribe to my view. There are more Islam scholars whom the court did not allow me to call upon to testify. All agree with my statements, they show that I speak the truth. That truth is on trial today.
We must live in the truth, said the dissidents under Communist rule, because the truth will set us free. Truth and freedom are inextricably connected. We must speak the truth because otherwise we shall lose our freedom.

That is why I have spoken, why I speak and why I shall continue to speak.

The statements for which I am being tried are statements which I made in my function as a politician participating in the public debate in our society. My statements were not aimed at individuals, but at Islam and the process of islamization. That is why the Public Prosecutor has concluded that I should be acquitted.

Mister President, members of the Court,

I am acting within a long tradition which I wish to honour. I am risking my life in defence of freedom in the Netherlands. Of all our achievements freedom is the most precious and the most vulnerable. Many have given their lives for freedom. We have been reminded of that in the commemorations of the month of May. But the struggle for freedom is much older.

Every day the armoured cars drive me past the statue of Johan de Witt at the Hofvijver in The Hague. De Witt wrote the “Manifesto of True Freedom” and he paid for freedom with his life. Every day I go to my office through the Binnenhof where Johan van Oldenbarneveldt was beheaded after a political trial. Leaning on his stick the elderly Oldenbarneveldt addressed his last words to his people. He said: “I have acted honourably and piously as a good patriot.” Those words are also mine.

I do not wish to betray the trust of the 1.5 million voters of my party. I do not wish to betray my country. Inspired by Johan van Oldenbarneveldt and Johan de Witt I wish to be a politician who serves the truth end hence defends the freedom of the Dutch provinces and of the Dutch people. I wish to be honest, I wish to act with honesty and that is why I wish to protect my native land against Islam. Silence is treason.

That is why I have spoken, why I speak and why I shall continue to speak.

Freedom and truth. I pay the price every day. Day and night I have to be protected against people who want to kill me. I am not complaining about it; it has been my own decision to speak. However, those who threaten me and other critics of Islam are not being tried here today. I am being tried. And about that I do complain.

I consider this trial to be a political trial. The values of D66 [a Dutch leftist liberal party] and NRC Handelsblad [a Dutch leftist liberal party] will never be brought before a judge in this country. One of the complainants clearly indicated that his intentions are political. Even questions I have asked in parliament and cooperation with the SGP are being brought as allegations against me by Mr Rabbae of GroenLinks [the leftist Dutch Green Party]. Those on the Left like to tamper with the separation of powers. When they cannot win politically because the Dutch people have discerned their sinister agenda, they try to win through the courts.

Whatever your verdict may be, that is the bitter conclusion of this trial.

This trial is also surrealistic. I am being compared with the Hutu murderers in Rwanda and with Mladic. Only a few minutes ago some here have doubted my mental health. I have been called a new Hitler. I wonder whether those who call me such names will also be sued, and if not, whether the Court will also order prosecution. Probably not. And that is just as well. Because freedom of speech applies also to my opponents.

My right to a fair trial has been violated. The order of the Amsterdam Court to prosecute me was not just a decision but a condemning verdict by judges who condemned me even before the actual trial had begun.

Mister President, members of the Court, you must now decide whether freedom still has a home in the Netherlands

Franz Kafka said: “one sees the sun slowly set, yet one is surprised when it suddenly becomes dark.”

Mister President, members of the Court, do not let the lights go out in the Netherlands.

Acquit me: Put an end to this Kafkaesque situation.

Acquit me. Political freedom requires that citizens and their elected representatives are allowed to voice opinions that are held in society.

Acquit me, for if I am convicted, you convict the freedom of opinion and expression of millions of Dutchmen.

Acquit me. I do not incite to hatred. I do not incite to discrimination. But I defend the character, the identity, the culture and the freedom of the Netherlands. That is the truth. That is why I am here. That is why I speak. That is why, like Luther before the Imperial Diet at Worms, I say: “Here I stand, I can do no other.”

That is why I have spoken, why I speak and why I shall continue to speak.

Mister President, members of the Court, though I stand here alone, my voice is the voice of many. This trial is not about me. It is about something much greater. Freedom of expression is the life source of our Western civilisation.

Do not let that source go dry just to cosy up to a totalitarian regime. “Freedom,” said the American President Dwight Eisenhower, “has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed – else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.”

Mister President, members of the Court, you have a great responsibility. Do not cut freedom in the Netherlands from its roots, our freedom of expression. Acquit me. Choose freedom.

I have spoken, I speak, and it is my duty – I cannot do otherwise – to continue to speak.

Thank you.

God bless Geert Wilders.

MJ,

Good post.

Indeed, God bless Geert Wilders.  The fact that Wilders is being prosecuted in the first place shows how ugly Islam really is.  Oddly not one Muslim has been prosecuted in kind for saying hateful things about Christianity or Judaism.  Islam uses the same playbook that the racist industry uses here in the states against whites whereas it's perfectly ok to invoke hate crimes legislation against whites but no one blinks an eye when black on white crime takes place.

There is no such thing as more equal.

If Wilders loses, then free speech will get flushed in Europe and it will migrate here.  There has already been talk about it.  Sen. Graham (Idiot RINO-SC) has said that free speech must be limited because we are at war.  WTF?

Our Constitution protects all of us not just some of us.  It is high time that our founding principles are taught in our schools.  If not the PC crowd will cower us more into accepting the same garbage that has landed Wilders into the quagmire.

When people are prosecuted for telling the truth then the game is over.

Thanks to MJ, I now know and understand more about islam than I ever wanted to know and I`ve concluded that this man-created death cult ideology is far more warped and disgusting and dangerous than its believers and non-believers alike realize.

Geert Wilders` truth telling passes my smell test. His accusers` does not. Freedom of speech and truth are on trial in the Netherlands, its in the court`s hands. Whichever way the verdict falls, Mr. Wilders` life is in extreme danger. Either way, he`ll very likely be killed by some "peace-loving" islamist. I don`t envy him his lot in life, but his fearless stand for truth and freedom are to be honored ! I pray that the court is accepting of their responsibility to stand for truth and not just cowed by fear !

May GOD protect and bless you, Geert !

Wilders definitely has a target on his back.  He has a set for sure to make the stand that has for so long.  The world needs people like him.

Off topic... check my latest post.  Its a follow-up to what we where talking about last week.

All it takes is a few brave souls to stand in the face of tyranny.

Our strategy must be to anticipate an unfair game, rid ourselves of the limp-wristed "Gramnestys", take no prisoners and not worry too much about taking names. It`s clear to me we know who the enemies are. As long as the laws are on our side and we are on GOD`s side, how can we lose ?

I do expect it to get rather ugly !

I read your post, Hardnox, it was great & the pictures were amazing. I meant to comment but my kids needed me for something and I got distracted.

Yep. I remember years ago when I first learned of Geert from you, I thank you for opening my eyes back then. He has been fighting for so long, God Bless him! And Europe has deteriorated so badly - it is far worse now than when he first sounded the alarm. Too bad they didn't listen, they could have stemmed the tide and saved a lot of innocent people a lot of heartache. Did you see the latest statistics from Norway? In Oslo, 100% of rapes there are committed by islamorageboys!  "Peace" my foot! If they lock Geert up in the Netherlands, it will be a terrible blow for free people everywhere. We need more brave souls like him. He has sacrificed so very much and yet still he fights. Geert Wilders is a hero.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Exactly, and yes, it's going to get really ugly, it already is ugly but it will get far worse before it gets better, but failure is death so we fight. This is the be all end all battle of our lives, good versus evil in its purest sense and the stakes couldn't possibly be higher. We must never back down no matter what, never give up, never ever surrender. Truth and goodness will prevail.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

He has had to sleep inside of a jail cell because his gov't could not guarantee he'd not be killed in his sleep, he cannot spend the night in the same place twice and must have security guards with him everywhere all of the time. He has sacrificed most of his freedom to fight for ours.  He is a true warrior for the light and we all owe him an enormous debt of gratitude for his incredible sacrifices on our behalf.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Yes, and hopefully we'll see more willing to stand up and follow the lead of Geert Wilders.

I posted at your place while ago, but it hasn`t yet cleared moderation. Beautiful forest land you have access to and obviously it was a wise decision to go this time a week earlier; late enough to miss snow and cold - early enough to beat the heat, drought and "headupassusses" ! Your choice of letting the THs suffer the consequences of their poor actions is often the best teacher !

Hardnox said...

I released your post a few minutes ago.  Sorry about the moderation but I refuse to give the trolls a forum to post their garbage.  You can't imagine the stuff that they have written which I have deleted.

The weather was great.  70's during the day and upper 50's at night and no bugs.  Perfect!  As far as the tree-humpers, I assumed that they made it out OK... I checked for bones this trip.  :)

Hardnox said...

Thanks for the visit.  It is beautiful unspoiled country to say the least barring the occasional tree-humper.

Hardnox said...

They say you catch the most flak when you're over the target.  This would apply here.  Yes, it is going to be ugly.

The left is going down screaming... music to our ears.  :)

Tragically, Wilders will end up paying for his courage with his life.  The religion of peace works that way.

Hey everybody, I have a new post up! Check out what another heroic truth teller, Ann Barnhardt, thinks may be Donald Trump's real motivation in going after Obama, if it's true, this could be really good for all of us!

I let anyone post, but if they piss me off I ban them, unless my readers are having fun abusing them, then I let them stay for a bit before I ban them. I'm too absent minded to moderate comments, folks would be sitting in the cue forever!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

I pray that is not so, but he is well aware of the danger he is in as am I. May the good Lord protect him.

MJ,
You're funny!

Initially I had an open forum but the trolls got nasty and began attacking my readers.  I had no choice.  If the trolls are polite I post them but usually they get too comfortable and begin their vile behavior.

I too enjoy when my readers engage in the counter assault.

The dhimmi dems are squealing like stuck pigs at everything that isn`t going their way, especially here in NC where lots of things aren`t going their way with the first majority R legislature in 103 yrs. If it weren`t so tiresome, it would be like "angels`song" !
