I'm Getting Root Canal, Hooray!

If you have not read my last post, you might think it odd that I am rejoicing at the fact that I am getting root canal surgery, but I need it badly and it had been completely out of my reach until a legion of internet angels of mercy came to my rescue.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my medical emergency bleg by linking, Tweeting, Tip Jar Hitting, and by offering kind words and prayers for me. As of this evening, it looks like I'll be able to get the root canal which will save my three teeth rather than the cheaper surgery which would have forced me to sacrifice them, barring any further complications, I should have enough to cover it now - thanks to all of you.  I am absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love and generosity that has been bestowed upon me by the Right Blogosphere. May the good Lord richly bless each and every one of you.

The antibiotics appear to finally be working as I have experienced some moments of relief before the pain comes roaring back an hour or so before my next dose it due. I have developed an upper respiratory infection that has me feeling pretty crummy and my weakened system has made my chronic nerve pain condition decide to blow up and join the party of pain so my bones hurt a lot, but my heart is happy and the haze is finally beginning to lift from my mind. I am tired, but it is time to rejoin the world, and I have a lot of catching up to do!

Carnival of Blegs - Dan Collins at The Conservatory is one of the bloggers who helped raise awareness of my plight and he has a roundup of other bloggers in need, including Lee Stranahan, who also needs help to get his teeth fixed. Please visit the links and help if you can, remember, even a dollar or two helps! Lee is willing to do all sorts of work for anyone who would like to contribute to his dental fund and there is a wide variety of services that he offers so be sure to check out his post!

Also from the Conservatory, Anthony Bialy notes that the problem isn't the color of Obama's skin...
Instead, Obama’s foes are more concerned with his epidermis’s shallowness. Obama is so thin-skinned that physicians don’t bother with X-raying him. Please don’t mention his numerous foibles, because he can’t take it—although there’s not much evidence that he can dish it out that well, either, on those occasions when he’s not reading from a screen.
Obama’s prickliness dissuades more and more people from thinking that he’s a swell guy despite how his policies are crushing us. Our president is as petulant as he is dismissive. Forget another four years: voters are realizing that they wouldn’t want to spend a long weekend with a man for whom the word “narcissist” seems inadequate.
This White House simply can’t tolerate dissent. Ironically, the lickspittle media is at fault: all that unbearably beatifying coverage of Obama meant that their savior never toughened up to criticism.
As a result, any comment or observation that hurts the President’s feelings leads to the issuer getting placed on the Oval Office’s naughty list. It’s taped behind his cherished portrait of Frances Fox Piven.
The poor guy grew so accustomed to being adulated that he doesn’t know how to react when someone honestly and objectively points out his failings. Having won a slot machine jackpot, a rather lucky executive now struggles to comprehend why the machine doesn’t keep pouring out coins no matter how often it’s primed.
He’s never been criticized for anything by the press, which in turn created his inability to defend attacks on his shoddy output. This White House’s comical attempts to monitor us are reminiscent of the incompetence of the sucky former section of Germany. Look out for suspicious hipsters wearing tricorn hats at Tea Parties.
At least they’re entertaining their foes they’re lamely attempting to keep in check with Shemp-level buffoonery. Specifically, attacking and watching Attack Watch is almost too easy, which is apparently why they gave up once they reached double-digit tweets.
The poor White House drones who have Attack Watch’s password know they’re going to be teased mercilessly, so why post more? Every new entry just confirms that their boss is Richard Nixon with broadband access.
The present strategy runs counter to the one deployed by the Bush administration, which didn’t care about what anyone said about them no matter how nasty it was. Instead of responding to every criticism, they spent their time working. Obama is unfamiliar with that concept.  RTWT

Free Gilad! After over five long years, Gilad Shilat, who has been held hostage prisoner by the genocidal jihadi terrorists 'Palestinians' for five long years, may soon be finally going home to Israel. Blazing Cat Fur and Legal Insurrection have the details.

Congratulations to The Other McCain on EIGHT MILLION HITS! You can help Stacy (America's Last REAL Reporter), Smitty and Wombat celebrate by Hitting the Freaking Tip Jar there, which will help fund their journalistic expedition to Las Vegas.

Also at The Other McCain, good news for Rick Santorum, bad news for Rick Perry, and, there's a GOP debate tonight, but like me, they don't get Bloomberg TV at The Other McCain but they link to Datechguy, who is in New Hampshire live blogging it.

There is a roundup of  posts from different blogs covering the debate at lgstarr, you should check it out.

Herman Cain is a Breath of Fresh Air, read why at Pundit & Pundette's terrific post.

Nobody wants to listen to Oblamer, so they're not bothering to anymore. Read President Obey-Me Is Not Being Obeyed by James Lewis at American Thinker for some great insights into the narcissist's brooding meltdown. Excerpt:

Rejection is no fun, especially if you're a heavenly rock star with a savior complex.  When people with narcissistic personalities come into psychotherapy, they often complain that nobody loves them -- and they can't understand it, because aren't they just the most lovable fluffy dolls in the world?

This is not Harry Truman.  It's not Herman Cain.  It's a guy who loves being worshiped, and he can't accept it when the crowds stop cheering.

Narcissists are not nice.  They treat others as puppets on strings.  The rest of us get  drawn in by their superficial charm, and then, after a while, we figure out that we've been had.  As soon as we walk away, the result is a towering rage by the narcissist.  We all know people like that.

This is all routine psychiatric manual stuff.

If you can handle a little more, President Obama is an interesting mix of narcissism and "Oppositional Defiant Disorder."  No other president in history has actually given his fellow Americans the fickle finger of fate in public, to the cheers and applause of his own followers.  This is not  Thomas Jefferson or Abe Lincoln.  This is immature kid stuff.

So here we are.  Our moronic MedioCrats have gotten America stuck with a man who was never tested by adversity.  Unlike Herman Cain, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and the other GOP candidates, he isn't used to scraping his knees on the playground and then just going "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, start all over again."  RTWT

The above AT piece links to a NY Post article by Michael Goodwin that is a MUST READ about how isolated (even from his own administration) and creepy Obama has become. Read Aimless Obama Walks Alone.

Congratulations to MOTUS on her Instalanche for her post, The People of OWS: like the people of Walmart, only not as smart. Go for the pictures, stay for the snark, don't miss the comments section at MOTUS, there's always a lot of fun down there!

The eggheads keep saying that the recession ended in 2009, but any reader of this blog knows that it damned sure hasn't ended for me and my family! Many Americans are suffering financially now worse than they were before Oblamer took office. Read about this in an important post at The Lonely Conservative.

You just keep us posted about whether you're able to get the more expensive procedure and save those teeth.  We want the opportunity to help you do that.  Best, Linda

Pretty dang great post for someone not feeling well.  Root canals are not as bad as everyone says and you'll feel waaaaaaaaaaay better afterwards.

I am glad things are looking better for you. Keep up the good fight.

Thank you, Linda! If there are no further complications once they get in there and start poking around, I should have enough now to cover the surgery that lets me keep my teeth, thanks to you and the others who helped.

Thanks great news! Good luck with it.

Thanks, Adrienne, and thank you for helping! I am in so much pain that I wish I could get the surgery right NOW, but they didn't have an appointment available when I have access to our one & only car until October 29th. If I can get my mom to come up from Long Island next week, she can watch the kids & let me use her car and then I can be put on the 'standby' list to get it done sooner if they have any cancellations.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thank you, I will, and thank you so much for your help! You and the others who donated are the only reason why things are looking up for me right now.

I am thrilled for you!! Soon you will be right as rain!!!!

Hope you are feeling better!
How you can write such great blog posts with all you are going thru is beyond me.  Take a rest, lie down, watch some TV or take a nap.  All the horrors will still be here when you recover.

I'm verry happy for you that you can save your teeth.  I've had several root canal surgeries and they didn't hurt a bit.  Honestly.  You sound as if you're on the right track now so keep up the good work!

Bilbo Bloggs said...

i'm horrified at what you have to pay to get dental surgery even with insurance!

my insurance is £22.5 a month and my two gold cored crowns cost me a total of £236!
insurance paid the other 480 and my premiums did not go up.

I suggested last night that MJ relax, get a good night`s rest and finish this post in the morning, but NOOOO, she went ahead and finished.

I say, "She be gots da gluttons fer punishment !" ;-)

SignPainterGuy said...

Is the Ruth who just passed away that you posted about at A-C page the same LadyLiberty who posted a reaction below ?

rosalie said...

I'm posting again because something went awry with my first comment.  I'm very happy for you that you won't lose any teeth.  I had two root canal surgeries and they didn't hurt a bit.  I never even took the medicine I was given for pain because it never happened. I know you have a ways to go yet but you sound so much better.

Teresamerica said...

You are in my thoughts and prayers, Zilla.  Good luck with your dental surgery.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

No, the Ruth, Lady Liberty who passed away, was a helper to Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit, I didn't know her but admired her work.
OUR LadyLiberty goes by the username LadyLiberty1885 and she is alive and well.

SignPainterGuy said...

Aah, the numbers tell the tale. Thanks !

I can understand the popularity of "LadyLiberty".

In the mid-70s, when CBs, citizen band radios were all the rage and before cell phones and internet, everyone went by "handles". I chose "Ranger", but there were several, so I added the prefix- "Absent Minded"...... It fit !

Just saw the note about The Explosive Child.  I want to pass on something that I just came across myself, in a book I borrowed from my public library.  It is called
The Gluten
Connection: How Gluten Sensitivity May Be Sabotaging Your Health - And
What You Can Do to Take Control Now
, and it talks about how much behavioral difficulty (ADD/ADHD, autism, and other issues) can be related to gluten in the diet.  Lots of science to back the claims.

My family just discovered, after years of misery, that we are gluten intolerant (one celiac).  Changing the diet has made a huge difference for many of my family members, and dietary changes don't need doctor supervision!

Check it out and see if there's anything helpful in there.

Sorry to hear about your pain but I'm glad to hear it's finally going to be treated. Now I'm going to checkout all the ads you have in your sidebar.

Go for the GAS, Zilla

That's the ticket lol

SignPainterGuy said...

Agreed ! My dentist had biz cards with the whole staff in "motley" caricatures and a stack of books with their services listed. "Funny gas" was the determining factor. It settled my nerves and made my toes tingle is about all, but that was enough. Great staff.

Just checking in for a progress report - if there is one!!!

:D

Well because I have been without a car since February (when hubby's transmission went & he started using mine to get to & from work) I could only do appointments outside of business hours and the soonest they could operate would be October 29th, a Saturday. But my mom just made the 90 mile trip up here from Long Island and will let me use her car while she watches my kids so now they are going to do the root canal this Tuesday! The antibiotics didn't help & my mouth is still killing me so I'm glad I only have to wait a few more days.
I haven't blogged because I'm still sick with the upper respiratory infection & the toothache and nerve pain flair up so I'm feeling pretty crappy, but I've managed to get back to regularly posting high  quality snark at the famous A-C page, here:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/ANTI-CRAPTASTIC/127576023926747
I've been meaning to do a new post here at the blog, I've got lots of tabs open in my browser, but with my mom's arrival there's been lots of excitement here and my kids are driving me nuts!
Thanks for stopping by to check up on me!
XOXO

Zilla of the Resistance said...

There WILL be nitrous!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thanks, Whoopie! Thank God for the kindness of the Right Blogosphere, no treatment would have been possible at all without the nice people who helped me!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thanks, Marilyn! We're all OK here (but I have dangerous food allergies), my son's problems likely stem from him being born premature and unable to breathe well at birth, also, his little heart had stopped more than once during those early days when he fought for survival in NICU. He is a very strong and healthy 4 year old now, but there exists only a handful of foods he is willing to eat or even try. I need to get my car back so I can have him evaluated so we can figure out if he has developmental issues or if he's just stubborn. The boy is very smart and very sweet, but he's still in diapers and has a few triggers that will set off a full blown meltdown.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thanks, Andy! Sorry I haven't been back here sooner, I've been sick and my mouth still really hurts. My mom came up to help out & lend me her car so my surgery will be this Tuesday.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thanks, Teresa! They'll operate this Tuesday.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Yes, the worst pain is that which leads to the root canal, the root canal fixes the problem so then it's only uncomfortable while healing.

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Absent Minded Ranger, that's cute, I guess I'd be Absent Minded Resister!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

I don't have dental insurance, if I did, I would have been able to take care of the problem before it got this bad. I haven't had dental insurance in nearly 20 years!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thank you, Rosalie!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

I just know that if I had put off finishing it up, it likely would still be unfinished - such is life with young children, especially when you're under the weather!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thanks Bunni, I wanted to give you all sumthin fer yer trouble!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thanks, Kim!

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thank you. I can hardly wait to get it over with, i finished the round of antibiotics & it didn't help at all! I am going through sooooo much mouth numbing stuff it's ridiculous. Thank goodness I only have to wait till Tuesday now!

SignPainterGuy said...

Well, here`s hoping you can get on top of the weather and in front of the kids ! I hope you can also get ahead of the infection before your surgery.

Kim Harrison said...

I am so so so glad you will be taken care of sooner rather than later! Hugs to Mom for coming through for you and tell the kiddos they need to be on best behavior - they don't want that mean ols Auntie fron Texas showing up to quiet things down ;)

hugs for you as well for being such a trooper
