I still have an infection but the dentist decided to try to finish up the root canal anyway so he could seal the canals up and hopefully after my FOURTH round of antibiotics in the past month, it will get better now. The surgery took 3 hours because there were all kinds of complications. I got about a dozen shots becasue my body metabolized the Novocain very quickly so nothing stayed numb for very long while I was being worked on. Last night was rough, the pain was relentless and the right side of my face is very swollen. I am still very sore and feel a lot of pressure up there, but hopefully I will be turning a corner on this thing soon. I have a temporary filling right now because they are still not sure if the tooth can be saved and when I go back we will discuss what to do next from the following options:
- I may need a new bridge since the one I have is very damaged and no longer fits properly now
- I may lose the tooth anyway but the dentist says he may be able to save half the bridge which will mean I only lose 2 teeth instead of four
- I might be able to get away with just a permanent filling over the surgery tooth
I am still sick, including all over body pain and just being wiped out, which is why I have not been blogging, but hopefully now that the surgery is done this new round of antibiotics will do what it is supposed to do so I can reclaim my life and get back to doing what I love, which is writing for all of you. I just have a hard time concentrating right now.
So that's what's going on with me, I am sorry that I have not been writing the way I normally would and hope to get back to normal as soon as possible. Oh, by the way, while I have been ill, this blog broke the quarter of a million page views milestone! Thanks for reading!

Get well soon, will keep you in my prayers for more energy, a clear mind and a release from this pernicious and persistent infection!
Take care of yourself MJ, and I hope you get better soon.
I will never complain about going to the dentist again; all I have to do is think of what you're going through. That's quite a milestone you've reach, and you deserve it. Please, please get well!
Get Well soon, Zilla, and get back in the saddle.
And Thanks for the Linkage!
Get well soon Zilla.
Wish you a quick recovery. Take care of yourself.
Been there, done that, have the dentures to prove it. :)
Take care of yourself.
I have two words for you - "eat yogurt." Lots and lots of yogurt or the next thing will be a yeast infection. Seriously!
I can sympathize. I call my mouth the 40K dollar mouth because that is about what's been spent on it over my lifetime, including an implant. And, really, that figure is probably very low.
Did I mention ice packs? And don't forget the yogurt...
I have been eating lots of yogurt since the first round of antibiotics, but thank you for the reminder! Every time I have to fill a prescription for the stuff I always get yogurt, luckily, my pharmacy is part of the local grocery store so it's super convenient! :)
Rember my bright and shiny smile? That's because my mom and dad had great insurance and I got my teeth fixed up real nice in my late teens, the four front teeth have laminates which ran about $20,000 22 years or so ago when I got them done. Unfortunately, they don't look so spiffy now, but I had a gorgeous smile up until about 2 years ago, maybe some day I can get it back. That's why there are not more recent photos of me anywhere if I can help it.
