Even with a radical leftist in the White House, you usually have to read between the lines to understand Democrats’ end game objectives — but not with North Carolina’s moonbat governor Beverly Perdue, who offers this solution to the debt crisis our rulers have created:After Governor Perdue's totalitarian suggestion started burning up the blogosphere, one of her spokespeople claimed that she was joking but Republicans aren't laughing (and neither am I). Via Fox News:
“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover,” Perdue said at a rotary club event in Cary, N.C., according to the Raleigh News & Observer. “I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.”Brilliant. Our insufficiently accountable politicians are so irresponsible that they are literally destroying the country before our eyes, so let’s make them totally unaccountable and see what happens. Can’t get any worse, can it? RTR
Perdue said she thinks that temporarily halting elections would allow members of Congress to focus on the economy. “You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things,” Perdue said.
Republicans rebuked North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue after she suggested Congress suspend elections for two years so lawmakers can get to work stimulating the economy unencumbered by anxiety about what voters think.
The governor's office has since claimed the remark was "hyperbole." But the North Carolina GOP isn't buying it.
"She wasn't joking at all. The congressional Democrats are wildly unpopular in North Carolina, so she may have been trying to invent a solution to save their jobs from public accountability," spokesman Rob Lockwood said. "If it was a joke, what was the set-up? What was the punch-line? Where was the pause for laughter?"
"We'll just call it an unconstitutionally bad-idea," he said in a statement.
The Constitution dictates elections for the House be held every two years.
The Raleigh News & Observer first reported that Perdue, a Democrat, suggested a change in protocol during a speech at a local Rotary Club. [...]

This is not the first time that Bev Perdue has revealed herself as a dictatorial far left moonbat: last year she used an Executive Order to suspend North Carolinians' gun rights in 'preparation' for Hurricane Earle. Via Charlotte Gun Rights Examiner (h/t This Ain't Hell):
State of emergency order makes criminals of concealed handgun permit-holders, sport shooters and hunters.Speaking of storms and Governor Perdue's "leadership", she was nowhere to be found and incommunicado while over 90 tornadoes wreaked havoc in North Carolina on April 16 of this year, turns out that she was out of state for recreational activities at the time. Via The Washington Post:
[Raleigh] Yesterday, North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue signed Executive Order No. 62, declaring a State of Emergency in advance of Hurricane Earle. In doing so, Perdue suspended the right of state residents to use or carry firearms outside their premises. Much more HERE
There was no word from the governor in the hours following Saturday’s huge mid-afternoon storms, when over 90 tornadoes hit the state. Around 9 P.M., Perdue’s communications director said the governor had been out of town on a “family obligation.” At 11 P.M., the governor held a press conference and declared a state of emergency. The North Carolina Republican Party responded to Perdue's inattention to her state during a natural disaster with THIS press release, excerpted below (via WWAY):
A day later, a Perdue spokesman said she had been visiting old friends in Kentucky, including fellow Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear, and went to a horse race Saturday.
NCGOP Submits “Open Records Request” to Governor Beverly Perdue and the Office of the GovernorBev Perdue has gotten into trouble for her wanderlust before. There is an investigation about her travel as Lieutenant Governor while running for her current office. John Camp at ABC11 interviewed the Wake County District Attorney, Colon Willoghby, as the investigation is wrapping up. Here is an excerpt from John Camp's September 23 report:
RALEIGH, NC - Given the inconsistencies and many unanswered questions from Governor Perdue and her staff regarding the events of Saturday, April 16, 2011, the North Carolina Republican Party has officially requested all documents concerning, referencing, or pertaining to travel by Governor Perdue from the Office of the Governor.
“While we continue to pray for our neighbors who were affected by the devastating tornadoes of April 16th, the people of North Carolina deserve to know why Governor Perdue went to a horse race rather than come back to the state and prepare the disaster response knowing that ‘North Carolina could be in for a beating.’ We know Governor Perdue arrived at the Raleigh Airport at 9:13 PM on Saturday evening but we know little else of the events of Saturday, April 16th. Governor Perdue and her staff have not been open and honest when pressed on the details of April 16, 2011 and their statements since then, including the Governor’s today, has only clouded the details of the events of that day. This open records request will hopefully start to find answers about the events of April 16, 2011; where Governor Perdue was during the tornadoes, who from her staff was with her, who she was in contact with during the tornadoes, why Governor Perdue and her State Emergency Management Director did not speak until after 8:00 PM and why Governor Perdue chose to stay at a horse race while tornadoes ravaged our state.” – Russell Peck, Executive Director, North Carolina Republican Party RTWT
In August 2010, the North Carolina Board of Elections fined the Perdue campaign $30,000 for "flight irregularities," but then Willoughby began his own investigation and more than a year later he said his work was just a few weeks from finished. Now she is preparing for a $50,000 taxpayer funded trip to China, allegedly to create jobs in North Carolina. Via The State:
"I think, pretty soon, the investigative part of it will be over and the only decision left will be for me to try to make decisions as to what charging decisions will be appropriate," he said.
However, Willoughby said his investigation has gone beyond just flight irregularities.
"We are looking at several different instances, some of which involve flights, some of which involve other things that we felt needed close scrutiny," he said.
Already one person close to Perdue has been charged with ''arranging and causing" an illegal contribution surrounding an unreported flight and Willoughby said more charges are likely to follow.
"I think it's probably likely that there may be other charges, but at this point, I don't feel comfortable in saying who or what," he said.
ABC11 has reached out to Governor Perdue's office, but they have not returned the calls.
North Carolina governor Bev Perdue, a Democrat, is facing criticism for an upcoming trip to China, which the governor touted Monday as an opportunity for creating jobs in the state.A February article in The Chronicle says that "Scandals dog Perdue as re-election nears", but if she were not a career corruptocrat, there would not be so many scandals to "dog" her. Bev Perdue has been dirty for quite some time:
The trade mission to China and Japan, includes five cities over eight days with a budget of $50,000 billed to the taxpayer, comes as Ms. Perdue said job creation in North Carolina is dependent on building economic alliances with China.
In August, her campaign was fined $30,000 for failing to report 41 private flights on donors’ planes she took across the state—last week, one of her biggest donors was indicted in the case for allegedly causing the campaign to falsely report his donations. Already under scrutiny for promoting a friend to lead the state’s highway patrol in 2009, the North Carolina Democrat finds herself confronted with depressed polling numbers that may portend an uphill battle for re-election in 2012.My friend and fellow Conservative Blogger, LadyLiberty1885, lives in North Carolina and she is not amused with Bev Perdue's shenanigans. See From the Desk of Lady Liberty - Obama Girl: NC Edition, excerpts below:
A Wake County grand jury indicted Robert Caldwell Feb. 8 on a felony obstruction of justice charge for actions dating back to 2007. He stands accused of hiding a donation to the Perdue Committee ahead of the 2008 gubernatorial election—money that paid for a campaign flight—when he had already given the campaign $4,000, the maximum amount allowed by N.C. law.
“The maximum sentence for such a charge is, I believe, 30 months,” Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby said.

A recent report released by the FBI found that Perdue abused her power in the 1990s as a state senator to promote her longtime friend, Randy Glover, to a higher rank within the N.C. Highway Patrol. The (Raleigh) News & Observer reported Friday that in 2009, Perdue encouraged the resignation of Walter Wilson, Jr, then-commander of the highway patrol and replaced him with Glover. Less than a year later, Glover resigned amid a series of ethical scandals within the force.
Bev Perdue: Obama Girl To The Core.No wonder she wants to do away with elections, but I think the people of North Carolina deserve better than to have to wait for the next election to remove her from office, as she has clearly demonstrated that she is unfit for the job. Via Phineas at Sister Toldja:
If you live in North Carolina like I do, this was readily apparent in 2008. We watched this woman model herself after Obama and take directions from him in 2009 with her trip to the White House and subsequent taxpayer paid trip to China. Why did she go there? “To grow jobs in NC.” Oh, you mean like Cree, Bev? Or perhaps WestStar Precision?

In 2010, NC voters had enough. In an historic election, Republicans took back control of the legislature. For the first time since 1898, Republicans overtook Democrats with majority control of the NC House and Senate. Those keeping up with the large number of Veto’s Perdue has been racking up hopefully are now be aware of her Obama-esque policies, pals and agenda – in particular ‘Green Jobs‘.
The House has overturned some of her vetoes – the most telling and possibly most damning one being her veto of the Budget. The override passed 73-46; many of her own party defecting. Her veto was purely political with a total lack of basis in reality and her predictable ‘scare tactic’ statement after the override was proof positive. She loves to spend just like her pal, Obama.
She and Obama also share another passion, one that includes murder – Bev Perdue vetoed the Abortion Waiting Period Bill. Like Obama, she says one thing then does another…until it becomes politically convenient to flip-flop again. Just like her hero, her ‘jobs tour‘ across NC was less about Jobs and more about fundraising. Crony capitalism in NC is thriving under Perdue. She also has her own version of Obama’s failed tip site and #attackwatch site called NCthinks. MUCH MORE HERE, READ IT ALL
Forget for a moment the odd spectacle of a state’s chief executive suggesting that elections be called off at all –something that’s never been done, even during the Civil War and World War II, the two greatest threats to our national existence, ever– the terms of the House and Senate are specified in Article I, Sections 2 and 3 of the the Constitution; before those terms expire, elections must be held. By suggesting elections for Congress be suspended and the term of Congress be extended in defiance of Article I, Governor Perdue was suggesting suspending the United States Constitution, itself.Beverly Perdue placed her hand on a Bible and swore to God that she would uphold the Constitution when she took the Oath of Office. The Governor has violated her Oath of Office and should be impeached, the President of Americans for Limited Government, Bill Wilson, agrees:
Naturally, Governor Perdue’s people tried to pull her foot out of her mouth by claiming she was joking and engaging in hyperbole, as reported by my blog-buddy, ST.
Whatever. Whether she meant it as a joke or a serious suggestion, it is a sentiment that should never, ever be uttered by any elected official, because elections are the sole source of legitimacy for a democratic government. To call off elections and extend the term of Congress in defiance of the Constitution would be to destroy utterly that legitimacy. Perdue’s suggestion, joking or not, was madness; I wouldn’t at all blame the North Carolina legislature if it voted to censure her or even consider impeachment. A governor who can so cavalierly suggest doing away with elections is unworthy to hold office. RTWT
NC Governor Floats Trial Balloon for Tyranny, ALG Calls for Impeachment
Sept. 28, 2011, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today reacted to North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue’s call to suspend congressional elections for two years:
“The North Carolina legislature should impeach Governor Beverly Perdue, who has called for the suspension of the U.S. Constitutional requirement for federal elections. This is all a part of a disturbing trend on the hard left, showing their antipathy toward the people’s right to choose the direction of their country rather than the elites who think they know best.
“Recently, former White House OMB director and Pelosi CBO director Peter Orszag similarly stated that ‘we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic’. This is a trial balloon for tyranny.
“History has shown that elite-driven government always leads to authoritarianism. It’s time for the North Carolina legislature to stand up for the American principle that legitimacy can only be conferred through the consent of the governed by impeaching Perdue immediately. Perdue and Orszag’s attack on representative government is a desire to go back to the days before the American Revolution when the nation suffered under taxation without representation.”
Governor Bev Perdue should be removed from office; North Carolina cannot afford to wait for the next election, not when the person in that state's highest office advocates that elections be eliminated, she needs to be impeached, now.
