Moonbat Parents Send Infectious Disease Through The Mail

These idiot parents need to be locked up and have their children taken away; they are putting the entire country at risk for infectious disease.

Via Instapundit:
ANTI-VACCINE CRAZINESS: Genius Parents Are Organizing ‘Pox Parties’ on Facebook. “CBS 5 KPHO in Phoenix reported on the extremely gross, not to mention dangerous, shipping of infected lollipops, Q-tips and rags enclosed in nothing more than a zip lock baggie and an envelope.

Video from CBS 5 KPHO:

Not only is this child abuse, but biological terrorism as well, creating a serious health risk for all who come in contact with the contaminated packages those idiots are sending.

The moonbat morons are organizing through facebook to pass diseases around to their kids. Excerpt from the CBS 5 KPHO story:
On the page, parents post where they live and ask if anyone with a child who has the chicken pox would be willing to send saliva, infected lollipops or clothing through the mail.
Parents also use the page to set up play dates with children who currently have chicken pox.
Medical experts say the most troubling part of this is parents are taking pathogens from complete strangers and deliberately infecting their children.
One concern is that they are sending the virus through the mail.
A Facebook post reads, "I got a Pox Package in mail just moments ago. I have two lollipops and a wet rag and spit."  Another woman warns, "This is a federal offense to intentionally mail a contagion."
Another woman answers, "Tuck it inside a zip lock baggy and then put the baggy in the envelope :) Don't put anything identifying it as pox."
"This is dangerous", said Dr. A.D. Jacobson, the chief of ambulatory pediatrics at Phoenix Children's Hospital. He said chicken pox is extremely contagious and is something he would never recommend you send in the mail.
Children can encounter complications like encephalitis and skin infections when they're introduced to the disease.
In rare cases children can die from not getting vaccinated. Dr. Jacobson said that he had a child in the hospital that died at 14 months due to chicken pox pneumonia.
"If you have a young child over to your house specifically to get chicken pox, I don't think anyone would like to really consider what would happen if that child ended up being hospitalized," said Elizabeth Jacobs from the University of Arizona College of Public Health.
CBS 5 producers found others asking for more dangerous pathogens. Two people on the Facebook page were looking for measles, mumps, and rubella.  RTWT
Stupid, stupid jackasses.

How do you know that what they are send is just Pox? Maybe I don't trust enough but there is no way in hell would I think this is a good idea. I may not be for the vaccines but this is just stupidness at its max.

Not only that but there is the very issue you talk about other people catching it. An adult who has not had the chicken pox can potentially die from them. Just wrong on so many levels.

When I was a kid, one of my friends and his younger brother contracted mumps. He looked like a chipmunk with his cheeks full of nuts, but was truly pitiful when he turned me away from his front door. I hadn`t much more than gotten home when his Mom called my Mom and asked if she wanted to send me back to her house to play with the kids. She thought it a good idea that all the kids in the neighborhood could have it all at the same time, develop an immunity to it and be protected for life. She was calling all the MOMs within a few blocks. My Mom said she didn`t think much of the idea, but asked me what I thought. I yelled, "HELL NO !" Mom hung up and said I`d made the right choice, but could have used better language. I was 9ish; yeah, could`a just said no !

I caught chicken pox and measles at school. One of the kids would complain about feeling bad, the teacher would look for bumps or a rash, and send those of us with symptoms to the office to call home for a ride.  Dad was the only driver in the family, at work both times, so I had to walk home. With chicken pox, second grade I think, when I got home, I was sweaty and itching like my whole body was crawling with chiggers. I don`t remember going to a DR. for the pox, but measles, yes. I still have an identifiable pox scar on my left shin.

How did I survive ?

My grandma had polio as a child, she had to hobble around on those Forrest Gump leg braces (and was teased mercilessly for it) but she was lucky to survive. My great uncle also had polio, he spent his entire life on crutches because he was paralyzed from it. My kids get vaccines. I never had chicken pox, it could be very dangerous for me to catch it now.

One of my uncles also had polio, and his legs are messed up.  I had chicken pox when I was 6, and the disease left a few scars.  (One scar on my stomach mysteriously disappeared after pregnancies).  I had a minor  complication from that and might yet get shingles.  I vaccinated my kids as soon as I could.

I doubt "pox parties" is what they was called, but this idea about getting all the kids in the neighborhood sick together was fairly common when I was growing up in the early 70's... Like SignPainter's mom, mine wasn't interested--I don't recall my brother and I ever voicing a vote, though I suspect we both agreed with mom (I know I did)--but she did get the invitations from the parents of one or two of our friends, and the "parties" did take place. This mailing thing involving complete strangers is absolutely crazy, though...

As a lib though, I take exception to the "moonbat" twist on the story (assuming that's what Zilla's referring to, anyway...)... I'm not seeing any political affiliation mentioned in the original stories on this (and if I may be so bold as to say, looking at the states mentioned kinda suggests a different demographic, politically-speaking...) I mean, yeah, there are anti-vaccine nuts here on the left, but I know of at least a few parents whose main objection to vaccinating their kids is the crazy--and yet unshakable--belief that aborted fetuses are somehow used to create the vaccines.
As with most topics, there's nuts like this all across the political spectrum...

(Apologies if *I'm* the only one here adding politics to the story, but I've been called moonbat enough to get a feel for how it's most often used in right wing (nut) parlance... ...and enough to've created a blog with a title based on the twin epithets, in fact...)

Yes, we've got our share of moonbats on the right too, I have known some of them, and it isn't just vaccines, it is any and all 'man made' medicine. I know some apolitical moonbats too.  Moonbat to me is more than a political identity, it's a way of life. I don't know how they all vote, but they all strike me as goofy, ill informed, and creepy, along with incredibly gullible.
The political spectrum is more like a ring (circular) than a straight line, if you go far enough in either direction, you find yourself on the other side. ;)
I had moonbat neighbors growing up, I have no idea if they liked Reagan or Carter, but they were spacey! All the kids liked to play at their house because they had the Karma Sutra out in the open for anybody to see, along with all kinds of other illustrated 'how-to' books, but their snack selections seriously left something to be desired. ;)
But whatever side one is on or if one is on any side at all, I stand by my assertion that it is monumentally stupid and dangerous to be mailing infectious disease contaminated packages, and anyone who does so should be arrested for putting the public health in jeopardy.  AND they should lose custody of their kids for being willing to infect them with unknown pathogens from strangers on purpose. How do they know that the spit and lollies ONLY have pox on them? There are other things far more serious that those idiot parents could be spreading to their children and to anyone unfortunate enough to be exposed because they handled the mail.
Oh, and I have been hearing the term 'pox parties' for at least the last ten years or so, since it was mentioned on the Simpsons.

My mom had shingles, I helped to take care of her, it was a miserable experience for my poor mom! My sister-in-law has a chronic version of the shingles, kind of like my chronic Lyme, it can come back and torture you whenever it wants with no warning.

My uncle caught the chickenpox at age 31.  Complications ensued, and he died -- likely of encephalitis.

And a cousin of mine died of similar complications of chickenpox.  As a child!

When I was small in the early 60's it was very common for moms to gather the children together if one was ill with measles or mumps. All the kiddos would get it and be done with it.

That said - I would have to think it illegal to mail these illnesses!!

I wanted to take a few moments to chime in and remind everyone:  ONE YEAR UNTIL OBAMA IS VOTED OUT OF OFFICE.  I am celebrating with a round of capitalism!!!

So many reasons to detest BHO!  Thanks for chronicling many.  Hugs.

It is very dangerous to adults who get the disease.   It has a much higher fatality rate, attributed to the complications such as pneumonia.  This screams "lawsuit" if anyone gets severely ill with this mail-borne inanity.
