Libyan Lunacy Linkaround - Updated

Obama sent our troops into Libya to help "rebels", who nobody knew anything about, without bothering to tell the American people or consult with the people's Representatives in Congress. He then went on vacation where he promised to use our tax dollars in Brazil to help them drill for oil which he promises to then buy using our tax dollars - even as he continues to stonewall allowing us access to our own energy resources while our energy prices skyrocket. He also found time to play soccer and go golfing.

Events in Libya have been difficult to keep track of as the Obama administration cannot keep it's story straight and the media struggles to shine a positive light on their moonbat messiah no matter what.

I had a difficult week personally, filled with injuries, illness and frustration; it interfered with my ability to focus on blogging and for that I apologize. I have been collecting links though, all related to the lunacy in Libya, so here is some of the best stuff I've collected...

Obama's Incoherence: Syria and Libya and the Middle East Meltdown  Atlas Shrugs:
It should have been Iran -- if we picked one country to set the example of muscular diplomacy while removing the gravest threat to the free
world. It should have been Iran. Period.
Libya ....makes no sense. Recipe: disaster. READ THE WHOLE THING
BO's Speech: Libya, It's a One-Off (Until the Next Unique Circumstances Converge to Compel U. S. Intervention) Fuzzy Logic:
Huh?
Without that exact historical moment, coupled with the threat of haunting images of murder and mass graves (that part was weird since we all saw Iranian tanks in the streets and police mowing down unarmed protesters in '09) and the calls from "rebels" for American assistance (again, weird, since we get those all the time, including from Iran in '09, but I guess they weren't al Queda, so no reason to help them), without all these factors, including less international support than President Bush had for Iraq and no vote at all in Congress (which Bush also had for Iraq, including the happy votes of current VP Clueless and Secretary of State She Who Is More Presidential than BO), there would be no U. S. intervention.
Basically, then, the "Obama Doctrine" is America will do what I want, and then I'll make it sound like it's a one-off.  Woohoo!  Go American intervention!  Or not!
Then the other weird part was the dig at President Bush about Iraq.  Having just spent forever explaining the uniqueness of the Libyan situation, the imminent threat . . . to Libyan civilians, and the impossible to comprehend devastation of displaced Libyan refugees migrating willy-nilly across borders (or something), and how the unique circumstances all converge to mean that the U. S. must protect them, BO said that on the other hand, if we actually went after Gadhafi, the entire situation would be completely transformed from noble and defensible to what that other guy did wrong.  Or something.  So we're not using force to remove Gadhafi, from whom we're spending billions to protect his own citizens, and we're just . . . well, kind of hoping he'll step down.  You know, because BO asked him to.  Twice.
Uh huh. READ THE REST
President Obama: 'Mosques Destroyed' American Thinker – Robert Morrison:
The President finally addressed the nation and the world nearly two weeks after initiating military action against Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Boiling down his speech, he claimed a moral imperative to intervene with force because Gaddafi had killed innocent civilians and destroyed mosques in his struggle to hang on to power.
"Mosques destroyed," the president said, supported his argument for air strikes. Churches are being destroyed daily in the Muslim world, but the U.S. does not intervene. Take Iraq, for example. We have sacrificed thousands of our soldiers' lives and billions in treasure in an effort to bring freedom to this war-torn country.
But the Christians there are daily being murdered and their churches bombed. As a senator, Barack Obama had no interest in preventing Saddam Hussein from filling mass graves. He vocally opposed our going into Iraq. That was then. RTR
Libya: Serious or Not? The Other McCain:
One of the reasons I’m having trouble taking the war in Libya seriously is that President Obama keeps treating it like another opportunity for political posturing. He gives his big nationally televised primetime speech on Monday and is off to wine and dine $30,000-a-plate donors on Tuesday while Vice President Joe Biden vacations in Aspen.
Wait, did I say “war” in Libya? I meant “kinetic military action.”
There I go again, cracking jokes. But if what is happening in Libya really matters, then why has the U.S. become involved on such a half-assed basis? If it was important, wouldn’t Congress have been consulted before we started shooting cruise missiles at Tripoli?
The Don’t-Call-It-a-War is being conducted under a United Nations “humanitarian” mandate that doesn’t include overthrowing Qaddafi. Only air power is involved, with no U.S. boots on the ground. It is being fought (or should I say “kinecticized”?) by a coalition led by the French while “the United States will play a supporting role” so that ”the risk and cost of this operation — to our military and to American taxpayers — will be reduced significantly.”
Insert punchline here. RTWT
The Known Unknowns of Libya  Sultan Knish:
The Libyan war may be dumbest war we have ever stumbled into. It is a war where the Secretary of Defense has admitted we have no national interest, a war where we don't know on whose behalf we're fighting or why we're even there. A war that the White House did not bother to run by either congress or the American people, except after the fact. A war that appears to be fought at the behest England, France, their oil companies, and a motley collection of Libyan rebels ranging from former regime thugs to Al Qaeda.
A week after launching it, the administration still can't get its own story straight as to why we're fighting it at all. According to Obama, he went in because he refused to wait for images of mass graves. Other things he refused to wait for were basic intelligence, stated objectives and congressional approval. It took us ten years to decide to remove Saddam, it didn't even take Obama ten days.
Was there any indication that there would be the implied genocide that comes with mass graves? Hardly. RTR
Obam's Razor: "What's the Most RADICAL Explanation for Recent US Action in Libya?" Reaganite Republican:
Today in 2011 America, political observers struggle mightily to get a grip on the fuzzy logic and towering hypocrisy in Obama purporting he was compelled to attack government assets in Libya -even if producing a stalemate insufficient to remove Gaddafi from power- in order to spare civilian lives and "Mosques"... yeah, he said that.
Moving to protect the lives of Egyptians, Kurds, Iranians, Yemenis, Syrians, Bahrainis, or any oppressed Christians and their burning churches throughout the perpetually-barbaric Middle East is different, somehow... if you're left standing there scritching yer cranium, you're surely not the only one.
But much as Occams' Razor instructs us to follow the most simple/obvious explanation to any mystery -that which assumes the least, positive or negative- let us apply Obam's Razor -'what's the most radical explanation'- to bring forth some needed  answers regarding recent US bombing of Libyan government forces.
As for minimizing "assumptions", no worries: after watching this power-drunk regime shred American society for two years straight now, anybody with a pulse and at least one functioning eye and/or ear can tell you that extending Team Obama the benefit of the doubt is assuming way, way too much- odds far better on the dark side. AP Fact Checks Obama's Pretexts for Libyan Adventure Moonbattery:
Even the moonbats at AP can smell a rat regarding Comrade Obama's justifications for going to war on behalf of al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya. When he finally got around to telling us why he has started another expensive war, they went so far as to fact check his lies: (Read the rundown of BS debunked here)
My Friend ‘Flickers’ Big Peace – Diana West:
Today, NATO commander Admiral James Stavridis told the US Senate something some of us have been noticing  from afar ever since this weirdo-bizarre R2P “humanitarian” assault in Libya on American national interest began:
“We have seen flickers in the intelligence of potential al Qaeda, Hezbollah.”
Hezbollah was a new one on me.
That means the US military is fighting on behalf of flickers that took down the World Trade Center in 2001 and the Marine Barracks in Beirut in 1983.
Does anyone care? RTR
Jihadis who killed Americans get U.S. support in Libya Examiner – Byron York:
There's no question that the rebels Americans are currently fighting for in Libya include in their ranks jihadis who in recent years traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan to kill Americans. The only question is whether that worries you or not.
Take Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, a leader of U.S.-supported rebels in the fighting for Adjabiya. His hometown, Darnah, has produced many jihadis, and after the Sept. 11 attacks al-Hasidi traveled to Afghanistan to fight the "foreign invasion" -- that is, the U.S. military. According to a report in Britain's Daily Telegraph, al-Hasidi says he was later captured in Pakistan, handed over to the U.S., then held in prison in Libya before being released in 2008.
In addition to fighting the U.S. in Afghanistan, al-Hasidi also says he recruited about two dozen men to fight the U.S. in Iraq.
Now al-Hasidi and his allies are moving toward Tripoli, which would not be possible without the military power of the United States. The men who devoted so much energy to killing Americans are now thankfully watching Americans kill for them. RTWT  - Lots of disturbing info
Let’s Arm Them!… 1,000 Jihadist Extremists Join Libyan Rebel Movement Gateway Pundit – Jim Hoft:
Today a “former” Al-Qaeda member told reporters that he believes there are 1,000 jihadists who have joined the Libyan rebel movement. This is the same day that Hillary Clinton suggested that we arm the rebels. MORE HERE
Wave of Al-Qaeda Fighters Heading to Libya From Afghanistan Gateway Pundit – Jim Hoft:
Al-Qaeda fighters can’t believe their luck that Americans are helping them bomb the Gaddafi regime back to the Stone Age.
The Daily Beast reported:
As the battle for the future of Libya continues, the excitement is almost palpable among Libyan-born al Qaeda fighters and other Arabs hunkered down in Pakistan’s remote and lawless tribal area. According to Afghan Taliban sources close to Osama bin Laden’s terrorist group, some of the 200 or so Libyans operating near the Afghan border may be on their way home to steer the anti-Gaddafi revolution in a more Islamist direction.
Barack Obama Is Now Admitting Some of the Libyan Rebels May Not Be Friendly Red State – Erick Erickson:
So, in other words, we’re more fully engaged and committing Marines to the situation, but we are not yet sure what the goals are of the opposition. Likewise, “some opposition individuals may be unfriendly to the United States.”
Um . . . which ones? And how can we be sure that, should things go the way Obama wants that these rebels don’t wind up in charge?
He went in without a plan. This is what that looks like.
Obama Has Signed A Secret Order Authorizing US Military Support For Libyan Rebels Say Anything – Rob Port:
How is this leadership? President Obama signed us on to a UN resolution that specifically forbids regime change in Libya through military means, but now we’re secretly aiding rebels who are fighting to unseat Gaddafi with our military. RTR
US Arms Libyan Rebels? NATO Delays Command Control Takeover Maggie’s Notebook:
U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice announced yesterday that the U.S. may arm the Libyan rebels. The Pentagon says we are considering giving the anti-government forces tanks, armored personnel carriers and helicopters as well as guns and ammunition. (MORE)
Of course Obama hadn't bothered to tell the American people that in his speech, and he didn't think that was something Congress needed to know about either.

Obama's "Secret" War: Why Libya? Atlas Shrugs:
Why Libya? It would be one thing if Obama had been fighting the forces of jihad through a muscular foreign policy.
News has "leaked" that Obama authorized a secret war in Libya weeks ago -- imagine if a Republican ever pulled a fatal stunt like that. And if it was secret, why is Obama leaking it?
Why Libya?
Why wasn't such action taken when millions took to the streets in Iran, so as to cut off the head of the snake?
June 17th, 2009: BACKING THE MULLAHS: OBAMA'S COWARDICE AND HYPOCRISY IN IRAN
Iran has been supporting the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, the unrest in Bahrain, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. You don't go to war at once, you go to war at last. And Iran has been at war with us and the free world for decades.
Instead, our finest, bravest Americans are risking their lives to fight alongside al qaeda in Libya. What could possibly be the end game here, whilst Al-Qaeda is snatching missiles in Libya? The "rebels" that Obama has secretly authorized to arm sold Hizballah and Hamas chemical shells.
I am not a fan of Gaddafi -- there are no heroes in this story -- but Saddam Hussein made Gaddafi look like Angelina Jolie, and yet the left is still whining and hand wringing about that war. But they support this. What is their premise? Bush went to Congress and went to the UN (and gave Saddam, the butcher of Baghdad, a year to move and/or destroy his weapons of mass destruction). Obama just went to war -- without Congress, without even discussing it with the American people. And again I ask, as I have repeatedly for weeks, why? Why Libya? Why Gaddafi?
Assad in Syria is much worse than, say, Mubarak in Egypt, but Obama vows not to interfere in that vassal of Iran, despite the slaughter of their people. And Obama supports the Muslim Brotherhood, which is steadily taking control in Egypt. To what end?
Why hasn't Obama taken such action against the jihad pirates in Somalia? Why not a "secret war" in Ethiopia to aid their fight against the jihad? Or aid for the fight against jihad in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia? Because we can't be everywhere, nor should we be. So we pick our fights based on where we could do the most good and remove the biggest evil.
Iran should have been the target. The mullahcracy should have been removed.
Why Libya?
Exclusive: Obama authorizes secret help for Libya rebels | Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama has signed a secret order authorizing covert U.S. government support for rebel forces seeking to oust Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, government officials told Reuters on Wednesday.
Obama signed the order, known as a presidential "finding", within the last two or three weeks, according to four U.S. government sources familiar with the matter.
Such findings are a principal form of presidential directive used to authorize secret operations by the Central Intelligence Agency. The CIA and the White House declined immediate comment.
News that Obama had given the authorization surfaced as the President and other U.S. and allied officials spoke openly about the possibility of sending arms supplies to Gaddafi's opponents, who are fighting better-equipped government forces.
Terrific- Experts Estimate There Are Only 1,000 Rebel Fighters in Libya… And 1,000 Fighters Are Jihadists Gateway Pundit – Jim Hoft:
So if there are only 1,000 rebel fighters in Libya and there are 1,000 members of Al-Qaeda fighting with the rebels in Libya, then wouldn’t that mean that the rebels are 100% jihadists?
And, the Obama Administration wants to arm them?
Now does that sound like smart power to you?
Not to worry… There are at least 200 more Al-Qaeda fighters on their way to Libya from Afghanistan.
Who Are the Libyan Rebels? Doesn’t the President Care? – National Review – Peter Kirsanow:
We bombed Qaddafi’s forces because they were killing civilians. So Qaddafi’s forces began dressing like civilians. So the rebels began killing civilians. So NATO is warning the rebels not to kill civilians, otherwise NATO will bomb the rebels. But the rebels are dressed like civilians. So NATO may end up killing civilians.
In other news, the administration  continues to debate arming the rebels who are dressed like civilians. But Qaddafi’s forces are also dressed like civilians. So we may be arming Qaddafi’s forces who are killing civilians while we also bomb the rebels who are killing civilians and bombing civilians who really are civilians but look like Qaddafi’s forces who are killing civilians.
Who’s on first?
Seriously.

Libya : Kinetic Military Action!  Woman Honor Thyself:
Hussein the Horrible has undermined allies of long standing.
He supports and bows to despots and Muzlim revolutionaries without the slightest regard for either his own people (who are “his people” anyway?)…. or the legitimate Congressional role in declaring war.
He has now placed our precious American troops in harm’s way and at the capricious disposal of European governments and international organizations. RTWT

Thousands of blogs, books, columns, and speeches, and here these devout and pious fellas have conveyed the message better than I ever could.

I am anxious to hear all of the Islamic supremacists groups (CAIR, ISNA, ICNA, MAS, MSA, etc.) fiercely rebuke and denounce these Muslims as viciously as they denounce counter jihad fighters. - Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs

Colonel Gaddafi's sons reportedly float Libya leadership handover The West, Islam and Sharia - Kadaffy has a bunch of grown kids, some of whom say they'd be willing to consider coaxing their father out of power, but the other kids say otherwise. Read about it at the link.

So Obama sent our military in to help the "Libyan rebels", who are populated by Al Qaeda and other jihadi terrorists who hate us, we'll be arming them and we'll be training them, all without getting Congressional authorization  because Barry thinks the UN is the ruling body over the United States of America(it's not). Libya posed no threat to us or our national interests, unlike Iran, which we ignore even as they build nuclear weapons to use against us and our ally Israel. Barry's Libyan bomb campaign has not endeared us to the islamic world, they hate us just as much, if not more and now they know that we can be manipulated to do their dirty work for them and help further the cause of radical islam. We're bombing Libya on the side of the rebels (who are Al Qaeda terrorists) to 'protect civilians' but  we'll also bomb the rebels to 'protect civilians' if we feel the need to, basically we are now taking BOTH sides of a civil war which insures that we will see no victory, not that anyone knows what a victory in this new war that dare not be called war means, because you can't be on the winning side if you are now working for both sides. My head hurts. There's a lot more I could fill in from the above links, but I need to go and do some "mommy stuff". I might add more if I get some time later, but you should get the gist of how screwed up this all is by now- unless you're a prog and then this all only goes to prove to you somehow that Obama really is all that and a vat of koolaid.

Please pray for our troops, God help them. What madness this all is.

UPDATE: Via Gateway Pundit: Those 'rebels' who Obama sent our troops to help are OPENLY Al Qaeda and say they want to not only cut Kadaffy's throat, but also to establish an islamic sharia state. I saw that one coming from a thousand miles away, too bad nobody in the Obama administration bothered to do their freaking research, or worse, they did and Barry is DELIBERATELY risking our soldiers' lives to help terrorists who want to kill us, have killed us and will kill us again at the next opportunity. Tell me again how what Obama has done isn't treason, if you think you can. More details about this development at Pajamas Media.
