Today is my Birthday

Unlike Obama, there will be no big fancy parties for me, and his horrible presidency may be part of the reason why I am sitting here totally broke on my birthday with an empty Tip Jar. He is making us all suffer for his total failure as a "leader". The Other McCain links to a post today that explains just how badly Captain WTF has mismanaged our economy. Read the whole thing, because it is too good for me to excerpt here without just pasting the entire piece, it uses facts from the official government record.

Here's some good news: House Republicans blocked the Democrats' job killing incandescent light bulb ban which would force us to either have bulbs filled with mercury and other toxins that practically take a Haz-Mat team to clean up when they break or spend over $50 for each new non-toxic LED bulb! The ban would also send hundreds of America jobs to China, because that's where the toxic CFC bulbs are made, unlike old fashioned safe, affordable bulbs, which were made here in the USA. Sadly, the Obama administration has a long history of destroying American jobs and also using tax payer money to "save or create" jobs overseas, as I wrote about last winter HERE. At least the GOP is trying to do something about it as it relates to the bulbs, and 67 % of Americans agree with them. Via Gateway Pundit:
House democrats on Tuesday blocked Republican efforts to repeal their job-killing light bulb ban. The democrats’ plan was to ban 100 watt incandescent bulbs in the US markets in January 2012, with bans on lower wattage bulbs to follow.
The democrats didn’t care that their plan would give hundreds of US jobs to China.
Republicans came back on Friday morning and blocked federal light bulb efficiency standards without even a roll call vote. An amendment from Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas) defunding the Energy Department’s standards for traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient starting next year was approved by voice vote.
The move by Republicans wasn’t just wise, it was popular. 67% of American voters oppose the bulb ban and support Republicans on this issue.
Phyllis Diller, David Hasselhoff, Donald Sutherland and Geezer Butler (the bassist from Black Sabbath) also have birthdays today. Sabbath is one of my favorite bands, but the songs I like best from them are pretty evil and today is Sunday so I'll refrain from posting the really dark ones, here's Paranoid and Iron Man:

Happy birthday, Geezer!

I'll be back to normal tomorrow and so will the blog.

Edited to remove my pity party after I had some ice cream cake that hubby got me and I feel better. Sorry if you caught my moodiness, I shall blame it on low blood sugar, yeah, that's the ticket. Oh and Obama, because he sucks. But you already knew that.

Sundays are special days for relaxation and reflection on our Savior. But it can be tough to sit still and relax when money woes and uncertainty hang over you like a bad cloud just waiting to dump on you. Add in YOUR ONE SPECIAL DAY OF THE YEAR, it`s a recipe for sadness and disappointment.

I`m so sorry that Hubby didn`t get you a card or cake. On the one hand, it`s almost unforgivable; on the other hand, could he have "lock-wallet" ? That fear of spending what little money he has, even on important stuff, `cause he doesn`t know for sure that it will be replaced...... His responsibility to provide is threatened. He`s scared.

Christmas was always tough on me once I took over the biz.  Every year on Christmas Eve, job orders turned off like a light switch and didn`t turn on again until March or even April. It scared the crap out of me, but do you think my "loving-wife now ex" wanted to understand ? No, she beat me over the head with it ! "If you can`t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen !" and "Go get a job at the paper mill or textile mill making those good union wages and benefits !" I did try and THANK GOD they didn`t hire me. NOBODY likes their job there !

Talk to Hubby and see if he`s going through what I felt, and if he`ll talk and IF that`s his issue, then MAKE SURE he knows he has your love and understanding AND forgiveness .... no matter what !! It will pay dividends.

Enjoy you "intact" family and the wonderful things you DO have and don`t allow satan to drag you down with thoughts of what you don`t have. It`s your day and your choice. Choose wisely.

Thank, SPG. He was raised by people who don't 'do' birthdays, so even after 12 years, he can't fathom why I'd want him to care about mine.  I'll be OK, today will be over soon enough & tomorrow is another day. I think maybe I should take this post down. And the one before it. I am sorry for exposing everyone to my insanity.

My parents weren`t huge on celebrations either, kinda covered the basics. My Sister has gone to great lengths to counter that and I`ve done what I can for others since the divorce. Perhaps you could find out the "why" behind the absence of celebration and remembrance of Hubby`s family - disbelief, lack of caring / closeness, or just poverty.

I can`t say say whether you should have ranted and bared your soul or not as you did; I`ll just say that I know you better and love you anyway. Please don`t ignore my advise. Your Husband needs you. I "thought" I was always there for her ! How much different might things have been had my wife been more supportive ?

Those damn men and B-day cards....A happy birthday wish to you young lady.

I'm always supportive, and all I really would have needed was a hug, kiss, and a "happy birthday", when it didn't happen, I kinda crashed & burned. But he left & came back with my favorite ice cream cake so I'm full of sugar and feeling more like 'me' again. I think I'll leave the posts cuz I like the videos but edit out some of the bitchin.
Thank you for being such a good friend. Your ex was a fool to let you go! (Just my humble opinion)

Thank you, Randy, I feel better now. I'm going to fix this post. Sorry for all the drama, those lady hormones can be a killa sometimes, and I usually keep em controlled pretty well, but b-day's screw me up.  I'm full of ice cream cake now & able to see the sunshine.

Happy Birthday, Zilla!  I wish I could contribute, but I'm broker than a mouse thanks to obummer!  I hope you have a nice b-day week.

Someday maybe I`ll be overwhelmed by sadness and spill my story. Much of it is a real head scratcher ! Duplicitous woman ! One of her fave expressions to say in front of friends, "I give him just enough rope to hang himself !", referring to keeping me on a short leash (all men cheat) while allowing me all the freedom I wanted. Mmm hmmm. That would be why she hung herself (figuratively) on "my" short rope ?!

Thank GOD, I have GOD in my life !

I`m glad Hubs went out for the cake and your more like yourself now.

Did you notice that Marshall_Will started a Zilla Birthday Blog Party for you yesterday at Doug`s Place on the open thread ? He posted several music vids in your honor.

Interesting about how lots of really smart and able people are pretty much penniless these days, while slobs can very often get rich. The Russian dissident singer-songwriter Alexander Galich had a song about that called 'The Gold Diggers', about how all the people shuffled off to work every day, silently, just keep your mouth shut, don't complain, dig, dig, dig, you can have your gold. But dig SILENTLY. If you rattle your chains, bang your tin mug against the bars, speak out against what's going on ...... somehow you lose your job, odd things happen, you lose your access to the gold. At least I think that's what he was saying. It was all in Russian, back in the days of Solzhenitsyn and Sakarov's ~Message to the West.
So glad you got over your 'Birthday Blues'(Bert Jansch did a whole LP with that title, so it's a well-known state!!, I get it as well sometimes).
Keep on smiling!

Well, happy belated birthday, for what it's worth.

All's well that ends with ice cream cake?

I can't believe those dopes parked on your lawn!

SignPainterGuy said...

If we add one day to 29-1/2 years, do you get a Happier MareZillaMJ ?

I`m goin` out on a limb here sayin` we all hope it`s so !

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Yes, still pitifully and anxiety producingly broke as heck,
but more stable emotionally. Glad it's over!

I just made sugar cookies with the kids,
from scratch! It was fun. And yummy.
Thanks for asking!

Jack Benny was 39 years old for quite a number of years,  but you are most likely too young to remember that.  Happy Birthday.

SignPainterGuy said...

May I be the first here to wish you a Belated Happy Birfday !

Happy Birthday with many more to come. Until Liberalism is scourged from the face of the earth!

Happy belated, Zilla

You know, I'm a BIG Ramones fan... even seen 'em up close in a small club

One of the most influential bands of all time, and Johnny Ramone was a HARD CORE Republican... he grew up an Army brat and knew how the world worked better than most in his profession.  Johnny (guitar) also once said when question about his political beliefs "Punk rock leans to the RIGHT!"

Zilla of the Resistance said...

Thanks! I saw the Ramones live once during on of their "farewell" tours when they were all still alive, they were totally awesome!
